The County Commissioners are failing the county, once again, by hiring a consultant to focus on bringing more low-paying service industry jobs to the County as their economic development plan. 55% of our county’s workforce works outside of the county. We need decent paying industry and tech jobs, with benefits, that would boost the tax base.
“These low paying jobs force people to go onto medicaid for healthcare, which is paid for with our tax dollars. I want people to know that tourism has its place, but we cannot have the entire economy dependent on service level jobs.”
It’s time for the commissioners to wake up and face reality.
